Before making the official announcement, Beatz sent a blissful tweet Thursday night. "I'm so thankful for everything I been blessed with in my life wowwwwww!" he wrote, seemingly out of the blue, on his Twitter page.
Singer Mary J. Blige sent the parents well wishes via Twitter.
The couple began dating in 2008 and wed in July on the Mediterranean Sea.
Baby Dean is the first child for Keys and the fourth for Beatz, who has two other sons and a daughter from previous relationships.
Keys told Us Weekly that she anticipates expanding her family. "This baby is going to see everything that I do and that we do," she said.
Beatz added that his wife had a smooth pregnancy.
Another celebrity expectant mother, Celine Dion, is annoyed by the negative publicity surrounding her pregnancy. Reports claim that Dion's unborn twin boys are due by cesarean section on October 22 and that the superstar has exhibited divalike behavior at the Florida hospital where she plans to give birth.René Angélil, Dion's husband and manager, denied the rumors. "There is nothing scheduled. We do not have a date," Angélil told People.
"They want Celine's pregnancy to go as long as possible, at least until the first week of November," Dion's rep said, citing concerns doctor concerns. "She would never intentionally endanger her unborn children by scheduling a birth early like this."
Dion, 42, has also been accused of requesting specific nurses and requiring a room for her security.
"It's false," the rep told People.
Celine, your friends at Yahoo! Music won't call you a diva for being concerned about protecting your children. So if you want to cherry pick your nurses and make accommodations for your Secret Service agents, then go for it.
Unfortunately, it's bad news for the rest of this week's headline makers. A day after T.I. helped talk a suicidal man off the ledge of a building, he was sentenced to return to jail for 11 months after getting caught with drugs last month. Miley Cyrus continued to disappoint her fans' parents because of her sexually charged new video. And Christina Aguilera filed for divorce, calling it quits after five years of marriage.
But, hey, don't start feeling depressed. There's still a weekend ahead of us. Enjoy. We'll see you next week.
